The Flagstaff Trails Initiative (FTI), is a 501c3 trail-centric non-profit whose mission is to elevate trails in and around Flagstaff from good to extraordinary.
The purpose of FTI is to develop and implement a collaborative, cross-jurisdictional strategy for recreational trails in the Flagstaff region of Coconino County, Arizona that will improve upon the old trail system to create an extraordinary trail network for the community.
FTI received a grant from AZ Parks and with this grant FTI will be launching our new Youth Trail Academy. Our first events will have both classroom instruction and field assessment of Fat Man’s Loop. Youth Trail Academy is for young adults ages 13-17 years old and is aimed at those interested in helping maintain, construct and monitor trails in and around Flagstaff. Volunteers in the Trail Academy will get their hands dirty with onsite training on skills needed to be a leading trail volunteer in our community.
FTI will be holding two Trail Academy events. May 21 will be for young ladies and June 11 will be for young men.
