Travels with Gunnar Widforss

Curator of Fine Arts Alan Petersen is working on a book on the life and artwork of Swedish-American painter Gunnar Widforss as well as a comprehensive catalog of Widforss’ paintings. For the past five years Petersen has been conducting research on Widforss and photographing hundreds of the prolific artist’s jewel-like watercolors of the American West as well as his early work in Europe. Petersen will present new insights into Widforss’ life and work and share his photos of the many newly discovered paintings that haven’t been seen by the public in over sixty years.
