Sustainable Sewing: Mending (Online)

Join us for a 4-week workshop series focused on mending and re-making your wardrobe!

We will cover patching and Boro/Sashiko-style stitching, repairing zippers and buttons, darning on woven and knit fabrics, and more—all by hand. Whether you are looking for an invisible fix, or you want to wear your visible mending on your sleeve, you will learn all the skills you need to begin your own mending journey.

We’ll learn together over four sessions on Zoom, with time in between to practice. Class recordings with demonstrations will be available to students to review between classes and after the class is over. The materials for this class are flexible, and hopefully, you can use things you already have, or that are easy to find.

Supplies you will need:
-A few items you want to mend (these can be clothing, household textiles, or anything made of fabric)
-Hand-sewing needles, thread/yarn, and scissors (you will receive an email with specific suggestions)
-A laptop or tablet with a reliable internet connection

For adults and teens, suggested age 14+
