These scenes and four others will take the stage at the end of this month, as the Northern Arizona Playwriting Showcase has announced the winners of its 10-minute short playwriting contest. Seven final plays were selected out of more than 40 plays from around the community and the country.
The plays will be performed as dramatic readings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, and Saturday, Aug. 31, at Theatrikos Theatre Company’s Doris Harper White Community Playhouse. Tickets are $5. Learn more at www.northernazplaywriting.org.
The Friday event concludes with an opening night reception and the Saturday performance will be followed by a question-and-answer session with attending playwrights and directors.
The winning plays are “The Third Person” by Dan Borengasser, “Jumping In” by Seth Freeman, “Haggis and Hummus” by Jill Gittleman, “One Last Task” by Larry Hendricks, “Revolutions of Everyday Life” by John Kitchens, “Onesentence” by Jane Ross and “Dead Man’s Lunch” by Jesse Sensibar.
