The February 14 concert will feature the music of Maurice Ravel (20th Century French Impressionist), Allison Loggins-Hull (African-American social justice advocate), Frederic Rzewski (social justice advocate), and Bruce Reiprich (NAU faculty), along with the projection of Luis Buñuel’s very provocative, surrealist 1929 film, Un chien andalou, set to Martin Matalon’s experimental music of 1996/2008.
Contributing to NAU’s celebration of Black history this month, this concert features guest flutist Jennifer Grim performing the music of Black composer Allison Loggins-Hull. Grim recently assumed the role of President of Chamber Music America, becoming the first Black woman to fill this position in the organization’s 45-year history.
Ensemble Flageolet concerts are supported by Michael T. and Karen I. Kitt and the Kitt School of Music, Dr. Eric Lenz, Director.
