Cultural Demonstration at Walnut Canyon National Monument

Join Diné artists Rosabelle Teesyatoh Shepherd and Arielle Tsinigine at Walnut Canyon National Monument from Friday, April 19th – Sunday, April 21st. They will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Rosabelle was raised in Tíísyatóh, Arizona. Rosabelle is of the Tobacco People clan, born for the Towering House clan. She is a fifth generation Diné silversmith with 25 years of experience, and the first female silversmith in her family. Growing up Rosabelle watched her father, and then was taught by her father and brothers. She draws inspiration from her Diné culture, teachings, and traditions.

Arielle resides in NahataDzííl near Sanders, AZ. She creates Diné jewelry pieces that include the use of Native Juniper Berry Seeds, semi-precious stones, and shells. She has been beading for nearly all of her life, and learned from her Shima’ (mother) Rosabelle. Her creations and inspirations come from her traditional Diné teachings and culture.
