Comet Talk: Our Scientific View of the World

This talk gives our present understanding of the physical Universe we see around us. We also discuss observation methods that have enabled us to collect the evidence to support our understanding. At the end, we present some events that may extend our understanding as dramatically as discovering evolution, relativity, and the quantum nature of everything.

Since retiring from a career in the tech industry, Duane Ray has enjoyed being an educator in continuing education programs at several community colleges in topics pertaining to science and art. He received a BA in physics from Swarthmore College, followed by an MS and PhD in physics from the University of Pennsylvania. After retiring, Duane and his wife moved from Pennsylvania to Portland, Oregon, and have now settled in Flagstaff to be closer to family.
