Please join Northern Arizona Audubon for a weed pulling party at Kachina Wetlands July 21 from 7 to 10 a.m. Bring a hat, shovel (if you have one), water, and sunscreen. We will have snacks for volunteers.
Thanks to the efforts of over 100 volunteers last July, the invasive plant diffuse knapweed was all but eliminated from Kachina Wetlands. Now, it's important to get the last of the flowering weeds before they go to seed and spread into areas that are currently weed-free. Kachina Wetlands is a Northern Arizona Audubon Bird Sanctuary, and over 200 species of birds have been known to use the site across the seasons. Please help improve the site for wildlife and humans!
Directions: Drive south of Flagstaff on I-17 and take the Kachina Village exit. Immediately turn right on Tovar Trail and follow it one mile, to the end. Parking is on the right. For cell phones, use the address 2375 Utility Road, Flagstaff, AZ 86004.
