Flagstaff Star Party

Flagstaff Star Party

Presented by Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition and Northern Arizona Audubon Society and Lowell Observatory and Coconino Astronomical Society at Buffalo Park

Meet the stars at the world's most accessible dark sky Star party! The free event features up to 30 telescopes hosted by both professional and amateur astronomers from around Flagstaff and across the country, guiding you to breathtaking and awe-inspiring views of stars, clusters, planets, nebulas and galaxies! The stars may be light-years away, but you will feel you can reach out and touch them in Flagstaff's Buffalo Park, only minutes from downtown Flagstaff and all of the amenities Flagstaff is famous for – cool mountain air, craft breweries, restaurants of every flavor, hotels, Route 66, and star-filled skies!

Orbiting around the stargazing activities are many family-oriented and kid-friendly presentations and activities, including "Sunset Shadows and Circles," a presentation on the beauty and often-overlooked phenomena of the sunset; a kids activity exploring the importance of night to birds; an exploration of the history and mythology of star names and constellations; and many more! Each night's events are weather-permitting: please check flagstaffstarparty.org if there is any question about the weather!
