Chinese-American author, Lisa See speaks about heritage

Lisa See, a New York Times best-selling American author, will be speaking about her Chinese heritage. The presentation, titled “Forgotten History: The Lost Stories of Women’s Lives in China”

Her highly regarded international bestseller “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” has now been adapted for the screen. See’s “Dreams of Joy,” is a #1 New York Times bestseller, and her next novel, “China Dolls,” will be published in Summer 2013.
“When I started going to China, I began to read lots of fiction and non-fiction, to get as broad a view of China as I could. Lisa See’s book, "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" struck me so powerfully,” said Liz Grobsmith, Senior Advisor to the President for Strategic & International Initiatives. “I was so enthralled that I read all of her work, and my intrigue was so great that I emailed her and told her how much her books meant to me.

“So, last year—as our 6th year of engagement with Chinese universities was approaching—and with our growth in Chinese students and interest in learning the Chinese language on campus, I thought bringing her in would help advance students’ and faculty knowledge of Chinese literature and history.”
