Why Monuments Matter

The Antiquities Act allows the President to “declare by public proclamation historic landmarks, historic and prehistoric structures, and other objects of historic or scientific interest … to be national monuments.” We will take a look at what kind of history and science past presidents sought to protect at several Colorado Plateau monuments, and whether or not they succeeded.
