Les Misérables

One of the earliest and perhaps the best adaptation of the Victor Hugo classic starring Golden Age icons Fredric March and Charles Laughton in the classic tale of a man pursued by a relentless policeman for stealing a loaf of bread.

The 2017 Fall College of Arts and Letters Film Series is seeing stars: The series’ theme —20th Century Fox: The Stars—includes 15 movies featuring some of the most dazzling movie stars from 20th Century Fox films productions as far back as 1935 and as recent as 2016. Commanding the screen are famous actors such as Bette Davis, Vincent Price, Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Gleason, Alan Rickman, Dolly Parton and Lily Tomlin.

Get to know about the movies and their famous actors at 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings in the Cline Library Assembly Hall. Win prizes as film experts share little-known tidbits about the films, actors and the social issues that impacted the stories and their telling.
