Museum of Northern Arizona docent Jerry Snow will be again be doing “living history” at the Brown Bag Lunch Lecture in the visitors’ center at the Riordan Mansion at 12:15 PM on Monday, February 11th. “The Padre Canyon Incident of 1899: A first hand account by William Johnston” will be Jerry’s topic. Tensions between Anglo ranchers and resident Navajos resulted in a deadly incident east of Flagstaff in November, 1899. A murder trial in 1900 and a visit to the White House in 1901 had influences all the way to WWII. It’s a tragic story that is part of Flagstaff’s history.
