Science journalist Melissa Sevigny will discuss her new book, Brave the Wild River: The Untold Story of Two Women who Mapped the Botany of The Grand Canyon.
Through the vibrant letters and diaries of botanists Elzada Clover and Lois Jotter, Sevigny traces their 1938 journey down the Colorado River, during which they meticulously cataloged the flora of Grand Canyon. Booklist calls this book "a breath-catching, enlightening, and significant work of scientific, environmental, and women's history."
