NAU Comparative Cultural Studies presents Let’s Anime, a film screening and lecture.
The department of Comparative Cultural Studies inaugural anime film screening lecture series begins with a showing of Astro Boy (Osamu Tezuka, 1963) and a lecture by Assistant Professor in Asian Studies, Dr. Dunja Jelesijevic, on MARCH 6 at 6:30 p.m. in LA 136. Contact CCS for more information.
Is Anime really older than your grandparents? Is anime political? Is anime religious? What’s with all the sex and violence?
We will explore origins and history of Japanese animation, aesthetics and storytelling, sources and influences, most influential figures, and much more.
Free and open to the public, teens and adults are encouraged to attend.
