In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint and preserve traditional recipes, insects offer an excellent, healthy and often forgotten nutrition source.

Insects have been a part of culinary traditions within many indigenous communities throughout the world, long before pastoral animals and game meat became the norm. Individuals with insect recipes and cooking knowledge are able to provide a nutritious and hearty meal by utilizing insects as the protein source, supplemented with greens, minerals, spices, roots, and other herbs.

As part of reconnecting to this viable and sustainable resource, Willow Bend in partnership with chef Somana Tootsie with Hopi Studio would like to present the Willow Bend “un-bug-lievable showcase” or the first annual Bug Banquet!

This interactive evening will include cooking demonstrations, hands on instruction, an entomology presentation, take home-kits and door prizes. The dinner will be partially assembled on-site and include unique, flavorful and delicious dishes & beverages featuring insects to delight and entertain every palette.

This fundraiser* is a unique, first time-in-Flagstaff bug dinner. Seats are extremely limited and sign up is required. Please sign up in advance to secure your spot. Price: $150 – Non-Willow Bend Members or $100 – Willow Bend Members.
