Let's learn about the effects of recent fires on our local landscape! Join library staff on a 4.8 mile hike up then down Slate Mountain. This moderately easy hike will take us up to 8215 feet with views of local mountains and the canyon!
You will need transportation to and from the trailhead. Be sure to bring water, snacks, sun protection and wear shoes for hiking.
Drive 35 miles north of Flagstaff on Highway 180 to Forest Road 191. Turn west and drive 2 miles to the trailhead. It will be on the right side of the road. Highway 180 is paved. Forest Road 191 is graveled and suitable for passenger cars in most weather.
