Try out crazy quilting in this 4-class series!
Crazy quilting is a fun way to create a quilt and a great way to use up scraps to create beautifully sustainable comfort. This technique uses straight stitching and an irregular pentagon (no precision required) as the centerpiece for each block.
You will create large, unique blocks working outward, combining fabric patterns and colors to make a one-of-a-kind quilt. No quilting experience is required! Familiarity with a sewing machine is recommended. Use our stash of scraps, or bring scraps to share. Students will also need to bring cotton batting or light-colored flannel; scraps and old sheets are fine. Sewing machines and thread are provided, feel free to bring your own machine as well.
This class is taught by Theresa Coleman! Her first quilts were made by tracing squares onto pieces from a “fabric barrel” filled with worn clothes, calendar towels, and scraps. A few decades, classes, and quilt retreats later, she still enjoys making quilts for herself, family, and friends with scraps and found fabrics.
