Eric Ramsey

Presented by Flagstaff Folk Project at Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation

Eric has been active in the Valley music scene for many years, performing solo or as part of any number of groups. He is a founding member of the seminal late-70's Alt-Folk-Swamp-Country-Rock-Southern-Blues-Boogie Band Spiny Norman. Other incarnations equally esoteric are the mid-1980's HIgh Falls and the 90's Not:Quite:Norman. His style draws from a wide-ranging number of musicians like Bruce Cockburn, Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, John Hiatt, Lowell George, Jerry Garcia, Miles Davis and John Coltrane, but is never bound by its original sources.

Recently Eric has appeared at various venues in the Valley and in northern Arizona as well as area folk festivals, including the Flagstaff Folk Festival, as a solo acoustic artist. He also appears with Scatfish, a blues, roots-rock and Americana trio. His solo performances include, in addition to his own original compositions, pieces by Pink Floyd, Townes Van Zandt, and Dave Matthews. With an extensive and varied song list covering country, rock, Americana, folk and blues, Eric is comfortable in any musical environment that doesn't involve a chicken-wire cage.
