Since the late nineteenth century, the Grand Canyon has been a source of wonder and inspiration, calling to artists with its unique challenges.
There is a desire to delve into the rich color and textures; the contrast of form and complex space.
The Grand Canyon is immense and yet intimate; it entices with subtle nuance.
Coconino Community College full-time Fine Arts faculty member, Art History instructor and Curator of Fine Arts at the Museum of Northern Arizona, Alan Petersen will share some of the most remarkable works of art of the Grand Canyon from the past 150 years.
