The Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP) is hosting a virtual run/walk fundraiser to bring awareness to the Virgil Masayesva Native American Student Endowment Scholarship Fund.
In 2006 ITEP established the Virgil Masayesva Native American Environmental Scholarship Fund in memoriam of ITEP’s Co-Founder and first Director. We are happy to share that since establishing this endowment at NAU, we have been able to provide 17 financial scholarships to Native American students at NAU pursuing environmental and natural resource management careers.
This year the centerpiece of ITEP’s fundraising campaign will be a virtual run/walk. Virgil, a member of the Hopi tribe, was an avid runner, and to this day running is an integral part of many Native American communities. So it is in this spirit that we are announcing the 2020 ITEP Virtual Run & Fundraiser!
Our goal is to raise $20,000 by the end of October. We need your help in raising funds and meeting our goal! Please visit our event website, register, and share this announcement with your friends and colleagues. Most importantly, please consider making a direct donation to the endowment.
The cost if you want to participate as a run/walk community member is $25. We will show postings of run or walk times, pictures and also send an official run Tshirt designed by Clarence Cooley, Dine. Most importantly is to bring awareness to the scholarship fund, which is available to donate to all year: https://securelb.imodules.com/s/1898/giving19/form.aspx?sid=1898&gid=2&pgid=418&bledit=1&dids=3729
