International Day of Peace-Walk for Peace

Presented by Flagstaff Peace Day Celebration at Heritage Square

International Day of Peace-Walk for Peace

We invite the Flagstaff Community to join together safely in a walk for peace on Sept. 19 starting at 10:30 am at Heritage Square preceded first by Mayor Coral Evans who will share the Peace Proclamation at 10:00 am as the Peace Pole is rededicated. Then we will walk, keeping a safe physical distance from each other, to the Ice House Peace Pole and back. MASKS REQUIRED. The walk will conclude by noon.

Jamey Hasapis will be singing and Jim McCarthy will perform a semaphore demonstration.

The Heritage Square Peace Pole was installed by the City of Flagstaff and the Flagstaff Peace Committee in 2018. It is a six-sided hand-crafted monument that displays the message and prayer, “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in English, Dine’, Hopi, Japanese, Spanish and American Sign Language.

Peace is universal and non-partisan so we thank the participants for not displaying any political attire or signs.
