Philosophy & Film

Presented by Sedona International Film Festival at Harkins Flagstaff 16

The Sedona International Film Festival screens films in Flagstaff on the second Wednesday of the month, in partnership with Harkins Theatres. Members of the NAU Philosophy Department facilitate discussions after the films exploring ideas that inspire, perplex, or provoke the audience.

The vitality of a community is greatly enhanced when its interested members gather at public events and discuss ideas such as: What makes someone a friend? When is a life worthwhile? How can those with damaged lives redeem themselves? These questions and others that emerge from viewing excellent film are, in their essence, philosophical and central to the lives we lead. Prompted by the powerful medium of film, Philosophy and Film brings accessibility to the subtle and profound ideas that film inspires.
