A 5K and 10K run along with a 2K walk for families, the course challenges runners with a long climb to the mesa that yields a few of the San Francisco Peaks, one of the sacred mountains for Indigenous peoples.
The race is different than the dozens of other Flagstaff running events because the focus is deeply spiritual and traditional. Rooted in the ancient tradition of running with prayer, most often in the early morning, the Sacred Mountain Prayer Run encourages all peoples to pray for blessings of the earth and all life. It’s worth remembering that while the run is an annual tradition, NACA’s extensive array of services goes on year-round. The run really is modeled on the nonprofit’s comprehensive care model by engaging physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness into each service. NACA embraces a holistic, integrated approach to caring for the whole person. Blending general health and wellness, behavioral health, community services, exercise and nutrition, support groups and more means healthier individuals, families and communities.
Early Registration is through April 30th ($40) after that it climbs to ($50) through May 31st, ($60) day of race, custom Event shirt included. All top three finishers in each of the six age categories will receive a custom handmade award for their respective finish.
