Presented by The Pioneer Museum at The Pioneer Museum

This class will teach students how to identify the suitability of found steel for making tools as well as the process of shaping, heat treating, and tempering the final product.  We will discuss the metallurgy of tool steels and how to identify the approximate hardness of the finished tool.  Students will leave with at least one finished tool they can use in their shop.  We will also cover a basic introduction to forging blades and edged tools.
