Travel Memories in Watercolor workshop with Pieter Schaafsma, Saturday April 20, 2019. One of the most rewarding ways of recording your travel memories is through the use of a small sketchbook, a pencil and watercolor kit. Join watercolor artist Pieter Schaafsma who will teach simple techniques to organize a travel sketchbook, basic tools and how to use them to capture your experience with basic pencil sketches and watercolors. This half-day workshop is a perfect way to learn the basic techniques for learning to use a travel sketchbook. Students can expect a demo on what has worked for Pieter and group instructions on how to develop a concept and apply color in your sketchbook.
Pieter Schaafsma is an artist and designer who has been traveling around America and Europe with his wife, Keith, for over 20 years On every trip he has used a sketchbook through pencil sketches and watercolors. Pieter studied Landscape Architecture at The University of Arizona where he was taught to use sketchbooks to record his ideas and paint the scenes that he has seen.
*No materials fee; Students should purchase an 8×5 Moleskin or Pentalic watercolor sketchbook and a basic set of watercolors like Prang or Dewent Academy plus two brushes: Filbert #4 and Angle Shader 1/4.
