Walk Your Socks Off

Walk Your Socks Off

Presented by NAMI Flagstaff at Buffalo Park

What's your beautiful difference? Left-handed? Thriving with Depression? Blue eyes? ADHD? Or are you one of those people who wears outrageously crazy socks to let the world know you're different and you love it? You do? Well, y'all come with us and walk those socks off for a great cause!

"Walk Your Socks Off" is a family-fun, whimsical walk-jog-run-a-thon that encourages people of all ages, fitness levels, and distances to come celebrate our differences together while helping to improve the quality of life for people with mental illness. After completing the two-mile course around Buffalo Park in Flagstaff, stay for an afternoon of good people, food, kids activities, music, dancing, hoola-hooping, and a cake walk.

Author, speaker, and mental health enthusiast Erin Callinan, who details her own story of mental illness in her book, Beautifully Bipolar: An Inspiring Look Into Mental Illness, and her amazing parents, Mike aand Pril Callinan, will kick off the event and cheer us on. Erin's energy, encouragement, joy, irreverance, and hope all bundle up in a harrowing story of recovery success.

No enlisting donors for this fabulous fun-o-thon! Just get up on October 19, yank on a pair of zany socks*, and come to Buffalo Park by 10:30 a.m. We'll give you a t-shirt and a BIG Ol' marker to write on the back the difference that makes you beautiful. (Erin will be wearing her book title, and you can too, but that can be a big leap for some folks, so share whatever makes you feel exceptional.)

All funds collected from registration fees will benefit NAMI Flagstaff educational and physical fitness programs for people with mental illness. Bring your friends and family for more fun!

*Zany socks provided to the first 50 people who arrive without a pair of their own!
