A year-long exploration of this classic Buddhist text which claims to be the path to freedom. We will learn traditional meditations and modern interpretations to help ourselves move toward “the destruction of suffering and grief.”
The Satipatthana, often translated as "The Four Foundations of Mindfulness" is a classic Buddhist text claiming to be "the only way for the purification of beings, for the overcoming of sorrow and lamentation, for the destruction of suffering and grief, for reaching the right path, for the attainment of Nirvana." The text contains four general areas of experience in which to learn mindfulness, including 53 different meditation techniques.
In this year long series, we will explore the Four Foundations of Mindfulness from historical and traditional points of view, with a focus on learning practical meditation techniques that can help modern practitioners find liberation from the daily challenges that can hold us down.
