Hank Levine performs songs that impart hope, celebrate life and love, and paint vivid pictures of the history, wildlife and places of the west, all balanced on top of an eclectic mixture of celtic, rock, bluegrass and folk-inspired guitar playing. Tonight, Hank will be performing musical creations that are specific to Arizona. Expect to hear songs about John Wesley Powell, coyote, the beloved hummingbird, the Sky Islands of southern Arizona, Captain John Hance and the Verde River among other things. Hank has resided in Sedona for the past fifteen years where he performs solo and in the trio "Kingfisher." He is known to use more than a dozen different guitar tunings, which can be heard on his three CDs. "The Bear Truth" is a thematic grouping of songs about the natural world, "Night Dreams" is a collaboration with rock bass player Jason Teague and his latest CD, "Left of Center", is, well, for the most part, left of center. Please join us in welcoming Hank in his first performance at the Flagstaff Folk Project.
