Bonito Community Garden Herb Walk

Bonito Community Garden Herb Walk

Presented by Flagstaff Foodlink and City of Flagstaff at Bonito Street Community Garden

Flagstaff Foodlink and the Flagstaff Sustainability Program are happy to announce our free 2014 Growing Community Summer Workshop Series featuring topics such as solar cooking, water harvesting, natural cleaners, and waffle gardening. This is a great opportunity for new gardeners who want to learn the basics and well-seasoned gardeners who are looking for new tricks for growing in Flagstaff. Please RSVP for the workshops at www.flagstaff.az.gov/gardens.

We will explore what gardeners are cultivating and what grows wild in and around the garden. Cultivated and Wild herbs that grow well in Northern Arizona pack a powerful punch in terms of flavor and health benefits due to our climate, soil and altitude. As a matter of fact, Arizona and Southern California have more native herbs than most continents. These plants have been utilized for thousands of years as food, flavoring and medicine. Certain traditional cultivated herbs can thrive here as well, but some may behave differently. We will provide handouts, including some recipes using herbs we grow here. Come and enjoy some herb tea and and early evening walk.
