Mark-making in Liminal Spaces

Mark-making in Liminal Spaces

Presented by NAU Art Museum at NAU Art Museum

Recent works by Lydia Gravis explore the idea of liminal psychological spaces. Through repetitive mark-making in drawings that are often very large in scale, Gravis manifests her desire to respond to the world around her, but in abstract, rather than representational form. Lived experience is re-conceived and restated in sometimes obsessive networks of gestures that suggest boundless environments populated with biomorphic shapes.
