Watch the metaphors fly in this local poetry competition every Wednesday night!!
A Poetry Slam is a competition between poets to find out who has the best metaphors of the evening. Ours happens to be in Flagstaff!! We have up to 16 performers do their thing onstage- every poet gets 3 minutes with a 10 second grace period before we start deducting points. All performers are graded on a scale of 0.0 to 10.0 by 5 randomly selected audience members. From there we drop the high and the low, add up the middle, and use that ranking to discover who moves into the second round of our Top 5 Poets. We then do the same process over again to determine who our Top 3 poets are, all receiving Free Drink tickets courtesy of Firecreek Coffee Company.
You are able to pay for your way in at the door from 7:30pm onward.
Tickets are sold on a $2 to $5 sliding scale (you decide what you want to pay) to accommodate those who want to see art on a budget. We do prefer cash, but if you only have a card, we accept payment at the cash register with the Barista.
Performer do get in for FREE, but slots do go fast and open at 7:30pm.
