The Ethnic Studies Program at NAU will host three scholar-activists discussing the historical significance—and future—of Ethnic Studies as a university focus linking community engagement and academic achievement.   The panel will be held Weds. evening, Sept. 26, in SBS West (Bldg.70) Rm. 200, from 6:45-8:30pm on NAU’s South campus.  The event is free and open to the public.  For more information call 928-523-8481, or “LIKE US” on: Facebook.com/nauethnicstudies.

Guest Speakers include San Francisco State alumna and physician, Dr. Ramona Tascoe;  Ethnic Studies graduate and Assistant Professor of Communication, Dr. Antonio De La Garza; and current Ethnic Studies/Disability Studies student, Taelor Smith.

The Ethnic Studies Program is the only university-recognized Ethnic Studies degree program in the state of Arizona. The event will inform, educate and mobilize students, faculty, staff and the community about the past, present and future of Ethnic Studies, as the program prepares to restore its BA degree and secure faculty positions to replace departed faculty such as Dr. Frederick Gooding and others who have had a significant impact on NAU and the community over the past 18 years.
