Rights * Fairness * Freedom * Power Lecture

Presented by Riordan Mansion State Historic Park at Riordan Mansion State Historic Park

As Flagstaff grew into a flourishing lumber town and tourist destination, workers, immigrants, women, and people of color were fighting for equal rights locally, as well as across the nation. Historically, Flagstaff was home to a diverse population of citizens. We often only hear the stories of one small segment of the population that called this town their home. Our AHS Education Curator, Sacha Siskonen, will examine the range of citizens who called Flagstaff home in the early 1900s and how they worked to integrate institutions, gain suffrage and achieve the American Dream in a rapidly changing Western town.
