Traveling singer/songwriter David Dondero will make his first stop in Flagstaff in over six years at the Doris Harper-White Playhouse. This intimate, 100-seat theatre setting is the perfect place to experience an artist that NPR has named one of the "best living songwriters," featured on their list alongside greats like Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, and Tom Waits. Local artist Shawn Dennehy will be opening.
David is one of the leading figures of the modern folk movement and has toured with such acts as Bright Eyes, Against Me!, The Mountain Goats, David Bazan, and Spoon. According to the magazine No Depression, the standard-bearer of the alt-country movement, "Ever since going solo and releasing his 1999 album ... The Pity Party, David has shown a remarkable ability to capture the heart of America in his songs, which he does with his rambling, poetic narratives, like a modern day Jack Kerouac, and in turn captures the heart of humankind."
