Women of Color and Queer People of Color Film Series

Presented by NAU College of Social and Behavior Science at College of Social and Behavioral Sciences

Filmmaker Grace Lee asks: “What does it mean to be an American revolutionary today?” Her documentary, American Revolutionary (2014), examines the legacy of 98-year-old Grace Lee Boggs, a Chinese-American who devoted a lifetime to social movements, labor and civil rights, Black Power, feminism, Asian American and environmental justice, and beyond. This important documentary film incorporates archival material from the 1920s to the present,
and reinforces Boggs’s statement that history “is the story of the past as well as the future.” “American Revolutionary” will inspire citizens and dreamers of all ages with new thinking to sustain” the struggle for social progress.
