Flagstaff spurs online giving to local charities during 2nd annual Arizona Gives Day

Flagstaff! Give Where You Live! is part of Arizona Gives Day on April 9, 2014. Arizona Gives Day, a 24-hour online giving marathon, is entering its second year dedicated to increasing giving to non-profit organizations. Similar statewide giving days occur across the nation.

Through Arizona Gives Day, Flagstaff residents will have an inspiring way to join with thousands of others to donate to community organizations.

Local nonprofits must sign up by February 28, 2014 at www.azgives.org in order to participate.

The Flagstaff Community Foundation (FCF) is mounting a major effort to get the word out about Arizona Gives Day.

“We see one of the roles of the Flagstaff Community Foundation as a convener of local philanthropy,” said Geoffrey Barnard, FCF Advisory Board Co-Chair. “This is an opportunity for individuals to directly support their favorite local organizations. It’s fun. It’s easy. And it makes a huge difference.”

On April 9, 2014 from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. individuals go online, click on the nonprofit organization they care about and make a tax-deductible donation. This 24-hour period of online giving raised more than $1 million statewide for Arizona’s nonprofits in 2013.

Founded in 1987, the Flagstaff Community Foundation makes grants to nonprofit organizations in the Flagstaff area, working to improve the quality of life for all residents.
