Joel is a mainstay in the NYC jazz scene and has been active as a band leader, composer, educator, and side-man performing with jazz luminaries such as Maynard Ferguson, Larry Goldings, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jane Monheit, Kenny Barron, and countless others. While growing up in Hartford Connecticut, Joel began a long-standing musical relationship with pianist Brad Mehldau which has led to countless exciting performances and recordings over the years.
