Border Songs Concert

Border Songs Concert

Presented by NAU - Latin American Studies at Coconino Center for the Arts

In addition to local Border Songs contributors—Matt Hall, Robert Neustadt, Pachuco & Classik and Tucson-based Ted Warmbrand—this concert will feature world-renowned Nicaraguan New Song vocalist Katia Cardenal! If you have the Border Songs album, you've heard her sing the beautiful "Canción pequeña" as Dúo Guardabarranco. If you don't have it, pick one up at the concert! All proceeds from the concert will go directly to No More Deaths.

The need for humanitarian aid on the border is on-going. Last year, over 160 human remains were found in the Arizona desert alone, and these are just the bodies that were found. Since 1994, over 7000 bodies have been found on the border. With the holidays approaching, you might consider giving Border Songs as a gift. The album makes for a very powerful gift, someone gets a cool double CD, and you place 29 gallons of water in the desert! That's 30 gifts for $20, and imagine how it must feel for someone, dehydrated and scared, to find a gallon of clean, safe drinking water in the desert!
