National Manufacturing Day℠ is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Manufacturing Day occurs on the first Friday in October — this year Manufacturing Day is Oct 6, 2017.

To celebrate, the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce is organizing the inaugural MadeInFlg Fest - a one-day event of plant tours and a trade show/job fair celebrating Flagstaff’s manufacturers with the intention to showcase the kinds of jobs offered by these companies and the array of items produced. The day consists of open plant tours offered to Flagstaff students and job-seekers. The tours offer exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to Flagstaff’s manufacturing sector. Tour of Manufacturers include stops at Nestle Purina, Novakinetics and Block-Lite. Reservations required. 928-774-4505.

The tours coincide with a trade show/job fair located at the Chamber of Commerce, 11 am to 4 pm. Here, students and job-seekers can learn about the various Flagstaff companies who make cool stuff and any job opportunities they may have. Participating companies include W.L. Gore, Prent Thermoforming, Nestle Purina, and Essity.
