Applications are now open for the second annual “¡Camp Moreno!” to be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15 at Sunset Crater National Monument, O’Leary Group campground.
Designed to promote the use and enjoyment of natural areas by area youth, the program is presented by the Alpino Foundation in cooperation with Flagstaff Area Monuments and the coordination of the Coconino Hispanic Advisory Council (CHAC).
You are invited to spend a family weekend in contact with nature. No membership fees required. Camping equipment included.
Campers will gather at 10:20 a.m. in the parking lot of Killip School, 2300 E. 6th Ave., Flagstaff, for the trip to Sunset Crater.
The bilingual program will include a welcome by the National Park Service superintendent, picnic lunches, hikes, "Camping Basics: 101" lessons and a program in honor of Día de la Independencia and the start of Hispanic Heritage Month on Sept. 15.
