The Death of Little Johnny Elden--Murder and Mystery/Myth and History

The Death of Little Johnny Elden--Murder and Mystery/Myth and History

Presented by Arizona Historical Society at Pioneer Museum

This month’s Night at the Museum features the well-known gravesite of little Johnny Elden. Located at the base of the Flagstaff mountain named for his father, Johnny was just six years old in 1887 when he was reported-ly shot and killed by an itinerant mule skinner. But there’s much more to the story…

This free "talk of the town" presented by Dr. John Westerlund, will also include an additional fieldtrip to the gravesite the following day, Saturday September 9. Meet in the Swiss Man-or Neighborhood in the cul-de-sac at the end of Lugano Way (N. Fanning Drive, left on Matterhorn, right on Lugano Way) at 8:45 a.m. The 400-yard hike will begin promptly at 9:00. Trail is uphill and rocky—appropriate footwear strongly recommended.
