Seed to Table - Berry Preservation and Organic Pest Control

Seed to Table - Berry Preservation and Organic Pest Control

Presented by Arizona Cooperative Extension at Coconino County Cooperative Extension

Join us every Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the Bus Stop Garden for interactive learning opportunities focusing on vegetable preparation, food preservation, nutrition education, high elevation gardening, and other various garden tips. Family-friendly food demonstrations with FREE food are included at each workshop.

This week’s workshop will focus on Berries and Organic Pest Control. How to care for and choose the best varieties for our growing season and climate are important aspects of a thriving berry crop. We will be providing tips on growing berries for our gardening portion, as well as information on organic pest control to keep your plants healthy without chemicals.

The food and nutrition portion will focus on how to preserve a berry harvest with jams, how to properly freeze berries, and drying berries. We will have samples of jams and other berry recipes to try during our workshop. We’ll have take-home recipes and information that we hope will inspire a bountiful berry harvest to enjoy all year long. Hope to see you there!
