Painting in the Wild: Colors of Fall Workshop

Painting in the Wild: Colors of Fall Workshop

at Coconino Center for the Arts

Painting In the wild colors of fall,  art meditations with a beginning mind, is a day-long guided exploration of abstractions evoked by wild nature settings with creative meditations in water soluble oil painting.

We will begin our adventure, observing the wild through short meditations that lead us into creative interpretations of the essence of natural forms and the abstract imagery within them.

With chalk, scumbelling sponge, brush and the vibrant colors of water soluble oil paints, we will experiment with color, from thin to thick, layering surfaces, creating textures of atmospheric light, depth, space, and form, and develop a unique evocative expression. From setting up our plein air easel, pallet, and color mixing, to painting several canvases, we will have a glorious afternoon and sunset, exploring painting meditations.

Workshop Schedule:
Our journey starts at Coconino Center for the Arts at noon, returning home at just after sunset. We will carpool in a 4WD van, (with a wilderness first responder and driver) to an inspiring high mountain spot with good opportunities for unique compositions, a beautiful sunset, and a creative adventure in oil painting. This painting day will end with a toast and a fun circle of supportive critique.
