Chasing Coral

Chasing Coral

Presented by Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival and The Orpheum Theater at The Orpheum Theater

As part of our special events throughout the year we have created a summer and fall showcase series, screening the best of our environmental, social, cultural and outdoor adventure films. This month we are truly honored to have received special permission to screen the feature film, 'Chasing Coral.' This is one of 2017's most hard hitting oceanic documentaries and winner of both the Audience Choice and Director's Awards at the recent Telluride Mountain Film Festival (one of world's most important documentary film festivals).

Coral reefs around the world are vanishing at an unprecedented rate.  Chasing Coral documents divers, photographers and scientists as they set out on an ocean adventure to discover why the reefs are disappearing.  Join us THIS Thursday as they reveal this underwater mystery to the world.

We will also be screening two shorts:

Into the Ditch, directed by Rush Sturges

Watch as two of the world’s best kayakers, Ben Marr and Rush Sturges, tackle breakneck speeds down 500 vertical feet of a concrete drainage ditch in British Columbia in Canada.

Free the Snake, a Patagonia film

Snake River salmon have been trucked, shipped and sent up ladders, all costly and failed to halt their decline. It’s time to remove the dams and reconnect the fish to their watersheds!
