Fort Tuthill Museum Reopen

Presented by Fort Tuthill Military Museum at Fort Tuthill County Park

2016 saw renovation completed on both buildings at our new, and much more visible, Fort Tuthill County Park location. Installation of exhibits in Building 1 was completed in time for the Coconino County Fair. Over 2,000 Fair visitors viewed exhibits tracing the regimental history from the 1865 organization of the 1st Regiment Arizona Volunteers through training at Fort Tuthill prior to mobilization for WW II. Installation of exhibits in Building 2 illustrating the regiment’s prewar training and South Pacific Combat though Afghanistan deployment of today’s 1st Battalion 158th Infantry will begin in January. A formal reopening of the museum is scheduled for May 20, 2017.

Our progress is entirely due to the dedicated volunteers and contractors who, in spite of numerous obstacles, found a way to “Make It Happen.” A strong core of donors provided the critical funding and material necessary to renovate two 86 year old mess hall buildings. Their names and contributions will be prominently displayed within the museum. Our sincere thanks to all involved for their continued support and belief in our mission to preserve and present the distinguished history of the Arizona National Guard, the 158th Infantry Regiment, and the role Fort Tuthill played in that history.?
