Cline Library Native American & Indigenous Film Series

Presented by Cline Library Special Collections and Archives at Cline Library Assembly Hall

NAU Cline Library Native American & Indigenous Film Series presents a double feature of “Warriors Return ” (dir. Marcia Rock, 2013)  and "Jim Thorpe: The World’s Greatest Athlete” (dir. Tom Weidlinger, 2013)

Warriors Return:Healing from PTSD is compounded for Navajo and many rural veterans by the problems of traveling long distances to receive care, unemployment, lack of housing, and alcohol abuse. Fortunately, many find help through strong women, traditional healing and western talk therapy to create a new normal.

Jim Thorpe: The World’s Greatest Athlete: This is a film about a man who used his amazing physical prowess as a way to affirm his American Indian identity in the face of unrelenting efforts to eradicate Native American culture. It is the first documentary film to tell the story of Thorpe’s life outside of his well-known athletic victories.
