Damage Control Headquarters at Tequila Sunrise to ensure everyone celebrates safely

Northland Family Help Center (NFHC) will be hosting a ‘Damage Control Headquarters’ during ‘Tequila Sunrise’ on October 15th, 2016 from 5:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Heritage Square, Downtown Flagstaff

What: During this event, NFHC staff will distribute FREE food, water and educational information regarding consent and sexual violence prevention. We will also be surveying the community on their attitudes towards sexual violence.

Why: To ensure everyone celebrates safely, to minimize the risks that this popular event can cause (including sexual violence), to promote healthy relationships and interactions, and to create a healthier, safer community in Flagstaff

Sexual violence is a prominent issue in our community. According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), every 2 minutes an American is sexually assaulted. “Alcohol is the number one drug to facilitate rape, so we’re just hoping to engage the community in this conversation on sexual violence,” said Sierra Jones, Community Educator for NFHC.
