The Flagstaff Area National Monument located in Flagstaff Arizona include Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater Volcano, and Wupatki National Monuments. Walnut Canyon protects and interprets 900-year-old Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings as well as unique biodiversity within the canyon. Sunset Crater Volcano protects and interprets the youngest cinder cone volcano within the San Francisco Volcanic Field as well as the human and biological impacts of a volcanic event of that size. Wupatki National Monument Protects and interprets the largest free standing Ancestral Puebloan structure in Northern Arizona. Wupatki Pueblo was the center of trade and culture for 50 miles during the early 1100s to the mid 1200s.
