The theme of this year’s tour is water conservation and local homes that include water conservation methods such as rainwater harvesting for irrigation and/or domestic use, grey water use, low-flow fixtures and xeriscaping will be highlighted. All of the projects on the tour have been certified through the Coconino County Sustainable Building Program and also include a number of other sustainable features. The tour will provide a fun and unique opportunity to see homes and buildings that have implemented sustainability through design, materials, systems, and living practices. The tour features passive solar design, energy and water efficient systems and appliances, greywater and rainwater reuse, and construction methods such as insulated concrete forms and strawbale. Additional features include, solar thermal (hot-water) for domestic and space heating, solar photovoltaic, Xeriscaping, and a retrofitted home for energy and water efficiency, as well as improved durability and indoor air quality.
